Old Town, San Diego

In San Diego, we also made our first visit to Old Town which is the oldest Spanish settlement in modern day California. It’s a fun mix of modern trends and old time charm. We had delicious freshly made tortillas with our lunch, enjoyed some coffee at a local coffee shop, bought some ice cream and listened to live music, and just took it all in. There was a great train shop I had heard a lot about, but unfortunately when we were there, there was a sign saying they were closed indefinitely as they couldn’t survive post-pandemic. It breaks my heart to see more family-owned businesses having to close due to the repercussions of the pandemic, so here’s a friendly reminder to try to support family-owned businesses versus corporations to help keep the unique-ness and richness alive in our cities.
