Lunar New Year

Happy Lunar New Year, Friends!

Today is the first day of the year based on the Lunisolar calendar which begins the first day of the New Moon. “Lunar New Year” is a term often used outside of Asia to be inclusive of all cultures that observe the Lunisolar or Lunar calendar; however, we all celebrate it a little differently. As a Vietnamese American, we call this day Tết. My kids are actually half Vietnamese and half Filipino; and I want them to learn, observe, and identify with both as they also navigate through life as Americans.

I really loved seeing them in their traditional áo dài here with what I’ve envisioned to be the setup for my Heritage sessions: clean, warm, but still fun! These sessions are specifically for capturing your kids in the beautiful traditional clothing of their heritage.

I originally thought I only wanted this to be a one-day mini session event this summer, but I loved how they came out so much that I want to do multiple days if there’s interest. Soooo if you’re interested, please send me an email so I can make sure to plan these out with you in mind. Next year, I’ll also be doing a Lunar New Year event so you can have these photos ready to share with loved ones by the new year so - stay tuned!

Wishing you all peace, health, and prosperity in this year of the Tiger! 🐯
