Moments in Monterey

Every year for my husband and I’s anniversary, we try to go somewhere new to us. If there’s anything I can be grateful for in the era of Covid, it’s that it’s really pushed us to explore our state more - and WOW - the sights of California never disappoint.

We spent a long weekend staying in Monterey exploring local sights with a big highlight being the bucket list drive through Big Sur. My gosh that drive is ridiculously photogenic. We caught the sunset in Carmel, ate baked goods so reminiscent of Europe, and topped off the trip with fun at a special playground. On the way home, we had a picnic lunch at a winery in Los Robles which was the perfect ending (especially for mom and dad :).

For the trip, I actually deleted my social media apps, and I feel like it made the trip a million times better. Instead of scrolling through my phone anytime there was “downtime,” I found myself just soaking in the details - watching my kids play, listening to my husband’s heart as we snuggle, and just noticing… more. Highly recommend it.
